The popular orientation in today’s society promotes a self-centered culture where people build their lives around themselves. All that they do is centered on them, their wants, and anything that will benefit them, but for the believer Jesus calls us to choose a posture of selflessness and genuine service.
Here’s the good news: Not only does Jesus call us to service, but He also equips us to serve, by depositing gifts and abilities in us. Our goal is to embrace this truth and disciple others to do the same. This eventually increases our influence and shines the light of the Gospel better through the testimonies coming out of our lives and that of those we led to do same.
Many times most of us feel unprepared because we lack resources, but resources are not given to those in need, they are given to those on a mission and who are serving a purpose. Your problem to resources ends once you understand this statement.
If I have Jesus, you already have everything you need.

1. Discover your God-given abilities
Exodus 35:31 And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all kinds of skills.
Acts 20:32 I commend you to God and the word of his grace, which will build you up and give you an inheritance among them that are sanctified.
God has deposited special gifts in you can both better your life when converted into a tool for service and not just to enrich yourself.
2. Develop the gifts you have discovered
Once a gift is discovered the next thing is develop it to its full capacity.
Too many people want to see their dreams fulfilled but are not given the discipline required, too many want to be seen but have not developed competence, many want to be celebrated without paying the sacrifice.
In Romans 12:8 Paul the apostle emphasizes on the usage of your gift rightly and not just using the gift.
3. Deploy the developed gift
The larger the people you serve with your gift the better your life becomes.
The last stage of development is deployment, because we gain mastery through usage.
What you are seeking most times is discovered in service to God.
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
If you pay attention to the words of apostle Peter he speaks in such a way that confirms every man in Christ have gifts, but his admonition was on them using the gift that they have received so you are inexcusable.
You have a gift, start developing it by deploying it in service and see others influenced through the investments of your personality.
As you continue this process in service you are edified (built up) and Christ glorified (multiplied influence).
